Argent-composed and project-managed national book club titles from The Adventure Library.

Working with Adventure Library's publisher, Edward Burlingame, and series consultant, Elton Robinson, Alan Bernhard/Argent performs the actual printed book development and project management work for all the titles in this series book club.To accomplish this, Alan: creates a pre-design review and book plan; develops manufacturing specifications; solicits printing/binding quotations; provides editorial and indexing services; builds illustrated maps and photo/illustration scans; creates the electronic layouts for all interior pages, hardcover caseside panels, endpapers, and series spines; and project manages subcontractors and manufacturers through finished books from the bindery.

Publishing Enterprise Development.

Book design and production; Set-up company’s publishing program; Design and produce ancillary products and product packaging; Marketing Plan; Manufacturing management. Two Sisters Press, a 2002 start-up publishing company in Denver, Colorado.

For Two Sisters Press first title (and subsequent product line), Argent designed a 4-color book cover and 2-color interior; negotiated and managed book printing. Other projects included the production of decks of playing cards; the design and manufacture of a keepsake tin product line; the design of all company’s product packaging and corporate identity. The first book was produced as both a 2-color print version and as a CD-ROM based, full-color PDF eBook.

Book Design and Production.

Business and management book created for XPertUS.com Decisionmaker software, Houston, Texas.

Argent designed and produced a trade paperback book, “The Art of Making Decisions” by Dr. Errol Wirasinghe for Shanmar Publishing (the book publishing arm of XPertUS.com software).

Argent has designed and produced all of the books in the front and backlist of this publisher, over a period of six years.

Some of these designs have won awards including the Benjamin Franklin Award presented in conjunction with BookExpo America.

Argent creates dust jacket designs that effectively match the marketplace for hardcover books.

Association Publications & Marketing Pieces.

CIPA Catalog of Books, Colorado Independent Publishers Association

Argent designs, produces and manages a variety of association publications, including magazines, membership directories, professional journals, catalogs, conference programs, marketing pieces, and association web sites.

For the Colorado Independent Publishers Association, Argent has helped develop their member book sales and marketing program by creating a model for a consumer, trade, and library market catalogs for direct-to-consumer, wholesale, and convention distribution.
